Malasri Engineering, operating as a subconsultant for Opticos Design Inc., helped to craft Small Area Plans for Highland Heights, Hollywood-Hyde Park, Klondike, Orange Mound, Soulsville, and South City. Small Area Plans address growth, improvement or preservation for a specific area of the city and may address future land use, zoning, design, transportation, housing, or other specific goals identified by individual communities. The Malasri Engineering team provided opinion of probable construction costs for concepts rendered in these Small Area Plans, which were used by the city’s Division of Planning and Development to plan the implementation of improvements across the sites.

Since 2017, Malasri Engineering has been designated as the prime consultant by the City of Memphis Division of Housing and Community Development for the ambitious Pinch District Development Project. Responsibilities include overseeing the infrastructure improvement projects outlined in the $48 million State Infrastructure Fast Track Grant. These projects include a 48” sewer line relocation and three phases of converting overhead utilities to underground.

This plan will guide the CRA on continuing the revitalization of the Uptown neighborhood by the City of Memphis and Shelby County through an allocation of $95 million for redevelopment projects.
